Auto Start-Stop Feature
This is one of those features that you either love or hate. There seems to be little middle ground. Due to the supply-chain problems with chips, Ford was forced to offer many models without the automatic start-stop functionality.
The auto start-stop feature is regarded as a standard feature, so, for 2022, Ranger owners will have to advise that they wish to opt-out of having this feature installed. Deciding not to install this will mean fewer microchips require installing, so your truck could be delivered more quickly than you expected.
Splash Package
This year, Ford is releasing several specialized trim packages for its mid-size Ranger pickup. These unique colorways will be restricted to a few hundred units each and will be released during the year.
Lariat Snow Edition
This package has Avalanche white paint, with grille nostrils and accents in Magnetic Grey. Inside, the leather seats have grey contrast stitching with carbon-weave bolsters and tux stripes. This colorway is restricted to 750 units and will be available in Spring 2022 starting at $45.435
XLT Forest Edition
As can be expected from the name, this is a green colour scheme with a forged green exterior alongside red grille nostrils and Magnetic Grey accents. Inside, the cloth seats are in ebony, with the rest of the interior sporting the same accents as the Snow Edition.
There will be 500 units in this scheme, which will be out by the summer.
XLT Sand Edition
Again, this eponymous scheme carries Desert Sand paint and the same interior and accents as the Snow Edition.
This colorway is limited to around 500 units and will be available in the fall of 2022.
Splash Limited Edition
Ford has brought back a retro-looking Splash Package for its 2022 XLT and Lariat SuperCrew models.
This package offers orange and black graphics along the length of the body, orange nostrils for the black grille, great-looking 12-spoke, 18” wheels in matt black alongside glossy black accents on the grille. It also features fender vents, wheel lip mouldings, bumpers, and rearview mirror caps.
The interior has not been forgotten. The seats get tuxedo stripes, orange contrast stitching, and a carbon grain look. This brightly coloured stitching can also be found on the shifter and park brake boots and the steering wheel.
The Lariat range comes with leather seats and the same orange contrast stitching on the armrests and dash.
Conclusion
Though the only changes for 2022 are trim packages, the Ranger continues to be the first choice for many small and medium-sized businesses.
