The original Ford Ranger was a highly successful mid-sized pickup that was retired back in 2011. However, Ford bowed to popular pressure and re-released the model in 2020, fully updated and upgraded to bring the nameplate up to date. What's New - 2020 Ford Ranger
The base Ranger configuration is unchanged from the previous year. However, a new 'Tremor' off-road package has been added as an option, providing increased ground clearance, upgraded suspension, locking rear differential, and more.
Ranger Design and Cab Format
The Ranger's take on the pickup design is a little more rounded than most, from the backward-curving headlights to the prominent wheel arches. However, it's not a design that strays too far from the norm, giving an overall feel of a confident, powerful truck.
The 2020 Ford Ranger is available in two main cab formats. A SuperCab option gives two-door access to the cabin and a pair of jump seats in the rear, while a SuperCrew version switches the rear seating to a three-person bench and ups the door tally to four.
Powertrain and Performance
All versions of the Ranger are equipped with the same powerful engine, a 2.3L turbo I-4 making 270 horsepower and 310lb-ft of torque. The output is passed through a ten-speed automatic transmission to an all-wheel-drive on every model.
This configuration provides plenty of power for smooth and responsive daily driving and is equally at home on the highway pavement or tough backwoods terrain. What's more, the powertrain delivers a highly respectable payload capacity of 750kg, plus a towing capability of 3,409kg. The entry-level Ranger XL trim is a straightforward working truck with little advanced tech in the cabin. However, higher trim levels add an 8" touchscreen for infotainment, giving easy access to advanced features including:
