What's new with the 2020 Ford EcoSport?
The EcoSport is back and it's now available at River City Ford. We all know that EcoSport is the Compact SUV that has it all, but just in case you had any doubts, we thought we'd review the model.
Excellent fuel economy, a surprising amount of room, and competitive pricing make the 2020 Ford Ecosport one of the most popular small SUVs on the road today. Ford manufactures this year's Ecosport in four trims - S, Se, Titanium, and SES - as well as seven configurations. All 2020 Ecosport models seat five. SES editions come standard with Intelligent 4WD, all other trims come in both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations.
Front-wheel-drive models get powered by a 123-hp, 1.0-liter I-3, while 4x4 editions get a larger 166-hp, 2.0-liter I-4. Both engines feature Auto Start-Stop Technology; run on regular gas, and both get linked to a 6-Speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission. EPA estimates for the smaller engine come in at 8.6/8.1, and 10.2/8.1 for the larger I-4. All figures are city/highway and L/100Km.

Ford EcoSport Technology
Base trim Ecosports offer most of the standard comforts found on today's vehicles. But, spending a little more for SES or Titanium models adds quite a bit in the way of comfort and convenience. Base S models come with a six-speaker AM/FM, MP3 capable sound system and Ford's legacy SYNC infotainment system controlled by a 107-mm colour touchscreen display.
SE, SES, and Titanium models get Ford's updated SYNC3 system, a larger 203-mm screen (optional on SE trims), and factory-installed SiriusXM satellite radio. The SYNC3 system features voice activation, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. Titanium owners enjoy an upgraded 7-speaker B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen and voice-activated navigation.
Key takeaways: Why should you care?
The Ecosport makes more sense for many shoppers because most people typically use less than half of their available cargo space anyway. Both vehicles seat five comfortably, and both feature similar cabins, excluding the Escape's few extra cubic meters. Considering the fact that the top-of-the-line Ecosport Titanium sells for almost $10,000 less than its Escape counterpart, the Ecosport makes perfect sense for many buyers.
